How to Download and Configure ForeFront Endpoint Protection 2010 for Windows on University-Owned Computers

NOTE Windows 8 Users: Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 is not currently compatible with the Windows 8 operating system. You may currently use Windows Defender which is installed by default on Windows 8.


1. Remove any antivirus program from your university owned or home computer and restart.

2. Direct your web browser to the Forefront Endpoint Protection page on TERPware.  Click the link for either 32-bit or 64-bit depending on your system.


3. Click the .exe download link.  When prompted, click Save File.  Once the download has finished, open the executable file which will be available in your Downloads folder.
4. Files will be extracted to a location on your computer automatically, and you will see the following window:

5. Click the Next button.

6. Read through the Software License Terms and click the I Accept button.

7. A new windows will be displayed which allow you to join the Customer Experience Improvement Program. Make your selection, then click the Next button:

8. A new window will display, asking you to Optimize security. Check the box to turn on your Windows firewall and click the Next button:

9. If you see the following image, you did not completely remove your prior Antivirus program. Click the Remove now button to complete the process:

10. Upon the completion of the removal (if necessary) and the installation of the program, you will need to restart your computer to complete the installation process. Click on the Restart now button:

11. Upon restarting, the program will automatically update and install necessary features:


12. Click the Settings tab to select an update schedule for your computer.
