2. When you initially install the program, you will see a Connect to: field.  Enter the following in the field:
3. Click Connect. The two UMD profiles will populate in the Group field.

4. VPN is an acronym for Virtual Private Network. A VPN provides an encrypted and secure connection “tunnel” path from a user's machine to its destination through the public Internet. There are three profiles to choose from: UMD, UMapps, and UMD-MFA.

UMD: The current general profile is called UMD and is used by off campus users that need to connect back to the University securely. Only traffic destined to the university will be sent through the VPN tunnel.

UMapps: The UMapps profile is used by on and off campus hosts to connect to sensitive resources on campus that do not have adequate built in application security and encryption.

UMD-MFA: The profile UMD-MFA is needed to access some data center applications and is used to verify user identity before allowing access to some campus systems. The UMD-MFA profile will be used by people both on or off campus to connect to specific resources that require an extra level of security using Multi-Factor Authentication.

5. Once you click Connect, the VPN Client will search for any updates and automatically install them.  This may take several minutes, after which the connection will be established and the client will minimize.
6. The first time you use the client, confirm that it is working properly by activating the VPN client and visiting the following web page:
If the VPN client is working properly, this web page will tell you that you are using an IP address in the format (where "xxx" is any number).
